This‘s a splendite excursion,designed for the clients,who have already seen Rome. After 40 minutes driving from the Sea Port through beautiful surrounding valleys you will arrive in Cerveteri.
The city was founded by the Etruscans in the seventh century B.c ,by the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea , and it is famous for its long history and the Etruscan necropolis was declared a World Heritage Site in 2004.This is the best Etruscan tombs that have survived to the present, and between IX to I B.c were the scene of the funeral rites of this ancient civilization.The necropolis of Banditaccia is for the city of Cerveteri, and has distributed thousands of graves streets and squares that mimic the layout of the buildings in the locality.
The stone is carved into the shape of ditches, huts and even houses, as it included numerous architectural elements, which makes this cemetery in an example of Etruscan residential architecture. Some of the most important tombs are tomba dei Capitelli, dating from the 6th B.C, wich was carved in volcanic stone, the Tomba dei Rilievi,swows relief images of everyday objet.After this we will continue the tour in the town of Bracciano, very famous for its volcanic lake, the Medieval castle .The majestic Odescalchi castle reigns as one of the most beautiful feudal residences in Europe. Construction began in the second half of the 15 century, and is conducting an ideal meeting point between the military and civil architecture.
Open to the public since 1952, today the castle of Bracciano is a dynamic which combines his vocation of museum with a very active in organizing events that are necessary to improve the value of what is good and what you can create a virtuous circle it allows to carry out an intelligent and consistent conservation and restoration.The Tour inside the castle is in English and will take approximately 1 hour.
Next place to visit is the town of Ceri, inhabited until the seventh century BC, the native population of the city has changed several times, from the Etruscans to the Romans. Numerous tombs of the Etruscans and Romans can be found there.The city as seen today was founded in 1236, when the inhabitants of neighboring Caere (Cerveteri), left latter to transfer into a better defensive position naturally through rock formations. In the city you can enjoy a typical Italian restaurant. The return to the Ship will be around 5.00 p.m.
